on april 29th 2010 at 3:33 in the afternoon our new addition to the family arrived. he weighed in at 8 pounds 9 ounces and 23 inches long. he is healthy and looks good.
i woke up thursday morning around six with renee saying "joel, i think my water just broke." so i slowly rolled out of bed after some deliberation and headed for the shower. we were scheduled to be induced on friday at 8 so i was wondering if this could be true. renee asked me what i was doing as i opened the shower door. needless to say, you don't get a shower when your wife's water breaks, you gotta go!!
we go to the hospital around seven and shortly after renee started having some mild contractions. they started coming more often and much stronger by around one. before we knew it she was dilated to 8 and "deuce" was ready for action. we didn't have time for an epideural so renee had to go all natural. man, i felt like i was in the exorcist movie!! every time a big contraction came so did the crazy screams of pain. i bet everyone on the whole floor heard these things. renee's mom was in the waiting room a long way from us and she could hear them every time. it was like stuff that only happens in movies!!
renee did really good and kept pushing and BAM!!, there was our new babe. i was front and center on this one and really was able to watch everything. from the doc grabbing fletcher's head, pulling and twisting it all over the place to him pulling the placenta from renee and stitching her up. IT WAS AWESOME!!!!

aw :) im sure renee loves that you compared the birth of your child to the exorcist! we need to come see him in person asap!!
